This chapter has been prepared under a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Geological Survey and the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology for collecting information on all nonfuel minerals. In 1998, the prelimina ry estimated value 1 of nonfuel mineral production for Montana was $500 million, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The Mineral Resources Online Spatial Data web portal is MRP's primary resource for interactive maps and downloadable geospatial data for regional and global geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and mineral resources.
